Hand-Sewing Basics

Location: Gather On Hopmeadow's Craft and Party Room

In this class you will learn the basics of hand-sewing while creating a project to bring home. The skills you will learn will prepare you to begin mending your clothes or making simple projects by hand. This class is hands-on and each attendee will receive a small sewing kit to take home. 

Some of what you will learn during class includes: 

• Options for knotting your thread

• 5 different stitches

• Basic project construction skills 

During class we will be sewing an aromatherapy sachet with a pocket; we will be utilizing scraps from The Greener Gift which will be up-cycled into your awesome project. The class will be taught by Lolly Nicol, owner of The Greener Gift, a business where she sustainably produces earth-friendly fabric goods designed to make greener living more fun and easy. Lolly learned how to sew from her mom as a child and is excited to share her skills and love of sewing with you! 

This workshop is open to any level sewist, including folks who have never picked up a needle and thread before!
